The house which stands on the corner of North
Archibald and Miles Street has an elegant and
eclectic feel. George and Sarah Coo purchased the
property from John McKellar, who was the first
mayor of Fort William. The house was built in
1898 and the Coo family lived in the residence
until 1952.
As the Coo building occupies a prominent street
corner, it has become one of Thunder Bay's most
recognizable landmarks. The façade of the
building is protected from alterations under the
Ontario Heritage Act, and the building now
welcomes discriminating shoppers and brides
through her doors.
The ‘gingerbread house’ atmosphere and eclectic
architectural style lends itself well as the
home for Elegant Impressions. In this beautiful
shop you'll find timeless giftware,
extraordinary seasonal decor, and impeccable
wedding services.
Lifetime Thunder Bay resident Cathy McCauley
established Elegant Impressions in 1997 and has
designed almost one thousand events. The store
itself changes with each season and is always
full of indispensable items.
